Wallpaper Calculator
Estimate wallpaper rolls from wall dimensions, roll coverage, and pattern repeat.
How this tool works
Estimate wallpaper rolls before buying supplies for a room or accent wall. CasaLabs calculators keep assumptions visible, use source-backed formulas, and avoid storing personal information.
How to use it
- Enter total wall width and wall height.
- Subtract major doors and windows if helpful.
- Enter roll width, roll length, and pattern repeat.
Formula
Rolls = ceiling(number of strips รท usable strips per roll), adjusted for wall height and pattern repeat.
Example
A 16 ft wide, 8 ft high wall with 20.5 in wide rolls needs about 10 strips. If each roll yields 4 strips, buy 3 rolls.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring pattern repeat.
- Subtracting too aggressively for windows and then running short.
- Assuming all wallpaper rolls have the same dimensions.
Assumptions
- Wallpaper coverage varies by roll size and manufacturer.
- Pattern repeat can increase waste.
- Door and window deductions should be conservative for easier matching.

FAQ
Why does wallpaper pattern repeat matter?
Pattern repeat can require extra material so adjacent strips line up correctly.
